Here in the faculty, the Skills Training Team provides development opportunities designed to give researchers like you, the skills needed to successfully negotiate the modern workplace and improve your future employability.
Research skills are important for ensuring excellence in research outputs however you also need other skills. To help you make a success of your career, regardless of where your ultimate career aspirations lie, you need to develop transferable skills. Transferable skills such as communication, leadership and inter-personal skills are highly prized by all employers. So regardless of the career path you want to follow, we give individuals access to the right training to allow them to develop vital skills for their future.
The Skills Training Team liaise with the Faculty Graduate School regarding the development of skills training activities for post-graduate research students. For the significant numbers of early career research staff in the faculty, we prioritise mentoring and development in the context of the researcher’s career development.
