Windows Terminal Servers

The Faculty Windows Remote Desktop Servers (Terminal Servers) have been set up to provide a standard Windows desktop to any user connecting to it. Linux users will find this useful in order to run Microsoft applications. Windows users may wish to use these servers in order to gain access to software which is installed on them. They can be accessed from remote computer systems including home machines.

Requirements - to use the RD Servers you need one of the following:

  • A PC running Windows 7
  • A PC running Linux, with access to the program 'rdesktop'
  • A PC running OS X with 'Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac' installed
  • A thin-client - a simple piece of dedicated hardware (no moving parts) with network access to which a keyboard, mouse and screen are connected.

Also, you have to have a University username (and know the password for it)
