Faculty of Environment

SEE MFDs - Mac access

All Konica printer within the Faculty can be accessed via the University MyPrint system, which allows all print jobs to be sent to a single queue, and then collected from any printer.

Printer locations within Earth and Environment can be found here:

MFD Locations

The printers can be accessed via the VPN, for example, if you are using the wireless network.

To set up the VPN on your Mac please read these instructions

VPN setup for Mac

Installing the Driver:

In order to access all the features of the multi function printers, you should first download and install the Konica Minolta drivers.

You can download the driver here (seems to work with OS X 10.6 and above):

or visit:

Run the installer and accept all of the default settings.

Connecting to the Printers:

Once connected to the University network, or to the University VPN:

  • Open 'System Preferences' -> 'Print and Fax'. If the Padlock is closed you will need to click the padlock and authenticate using your Administrator account.
  • Click the plus button to add a new printer.
  • Go to the 'Advanced' section, if the 'Advanced' option is not visible, press 'ctrl' on the keyboard and click the mous at the top of the box. This is the same as right-clicking, and will give you the option to 'Customize Toolbar':

From here, you can drag the 'Advanced' option on to the toolbar.

Within the 'Advanced' menu, the options which need to be set are:

  • Type: LPD/LPR Host or Printer
  • Device: Another Device
  • URL: set this to lpd://username@myprint.leeds.ac.uk/staff_col, e.g., if your username was earabc, this would be set to lpd://earabc@myprint.leeds.ac.uk/staff_col
  • Name: This is how the printer will appear in the printer list, so it is useful to set it to something which you will recognise.
  • Location: This can be left blank, or you can set it to whatever you wish.
  • Print Using: From here choose 'Select Printer Software', which will open up a driver selection window. Search for 'konica', and select the 'C652 PS' driver.
  • Click the 'Add' button to move to the next step.

If you would like to use the stapling or booklet folding features (only available on some printers - see MFD list), then you can set the 'Finishing Unit' to 'FS-527 + SD-509'. This will enable the additional finishing options (e.g. stapling) when printing:

Mac Installable Options
  • Click Continue.
  • Your print queue is now installed.

The main options are:

  • Layout - opens options for pages per sheet etc.
  • Output Method - opens the option for you to select Secure Printing, or User Box Printing.
  • Layout / Finish - opens options for duplex printing, stapling, etc.
  • Quality - opens options for printing in grey scale, etc.

Note: printing in black and white is vastly cheaper than colour printouts and we recommend that this is the default setting. You can find this setting in the 'Quality' options:
