Blended Learning and Technology Enhanced Learning

Blended Learning and Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) enables staff to make the considered and effective use of technology, allowing innovative approaches to teaching, learning and assessment.

“Different learning or instructional methods (lecture, discussion, guided practice, reading, games, case study, simulation), different delivery methods (live classroom or computer mediated), different scheduling (synchronous or asynchronous) and different levels of guidance (individual, instructor or expert led or group/social learning).”

Blended Learning at MIT: Jeff Pankin, John Roberts, Mike Savio (2012)

The role of the Blended Learning Enhancement Officer is to provide guidance, training and support on the use of Virtual Learning Environments, e-assessment, lecture capture, desktop/personal capture student use of the internet, mobile devices and/or social media in their learning and other learning and teaching approaches that complement and enhance traditional face-to-face teaching.

Although based primarily in the Faculty office I will also spend a day a week in each of the schools.

  • School of Earth and Environment (ext 36722)  - Monday
